Under bright sunshine and optimal slope conditions, the final slalom event of the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games took place today on the Jochpass. After two weather-related cancellations in recent days, this thrilling conclusion was met with even greater enthusiasm.

Exciting Battles in the Slalom Individual Competition

In the women's slalom, Marion Chevrier from France claimed victory, followed by Switzerland’s Aline Höpli (Skiklub Gossau) in second place. Doriane Escane, also from France, completed the podium, while Anuk Brändli (Skiklub Arosa) narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place.

In the men’s slalom, Italy’s Hannes Zingerle secured gold, with silver going to Austria’s Adrian Pertl. Switzerland’s Joel Lütolf (Skiklub Bannalp-Wolfenschiessen) clinched third place, earning another podium spot for the host nation. Additionally, Delio Kunz (8th), Nick Spörri (10th), Reto Mächler (11th), and Fadri Janutin (15th) also finished among the top 15. Unfortunately, Gino Stucki was unable to complete his first run.

Challenges and Achievements in Parasports

In the “Standing Men” category of the parasport competition, Italy’s Davide Nadai was the sole finisher. In the “Sitting Men” category, Switzerland’s Felix Frohofer emerged as the only athlete to complete the race, marking a special success.

With today's event taking place under ideal conditions, the competition days came to a successful close. Despite weather-related delays and cancellations earlier in the week, athletes expressed their satisfaction with the games and their pride in representing their respective nations.

The 5th CISM Military World Winter Games will officially conclude with the closing ceremony tomorrow evening at Messe Luzern. A week filled with outstanding athletic performances and the true spirit of “friendship through sport” will reach its grand finale. The podium finishes of Aline Höpli and Joel Lütolf further highlight the success of the Swiss delegation, whose dedication embodied the values of international military sports.
