Patrol Race and Mixed Relay in focus on the final competition day

The last day of competition at the 5th CISM Winter Military World Games featured two exciting events at the Nordic Center in Goms. The patrol race put athletes to the test in endurance, teamwork, and military precision on skis. At the same time, the mixed relay in ski orienteering provided a thrilling competition.

France and Finland triumph in a thrilling patrol race

In the women’s patrol race, Team France claimed a dominant victory with an impressive total time of 37:06.3 minutes, followed by Italy in second place with 38:23.7 minutes. Sweden secured the final podium spot with a time of 38:40.3 minutes.

The men’s race was particularly exciting: Finland secured the gold medal with a time of 44:04.6 minutes, narrowly beating Germany, which finished just 0.3 seconds behind in 44:04.9 minutes. France took bronze with a total time of 44:39.1 minutes.

Host nation Switzerland finished in eighth place in the men's race (45:48.3 minutes) and sixth place in the women's race (40:51.2 minutes).

Sweden Dominates Mixed Relay in Ski Orienteering

In the mixed relay ski orienteering event, Sweden's team SWE 1 took the victory. Evelina Wickbom completed her course in 11:46 minutes, followed by Rasmus Wickbom, who brought the team’s total time to 24:24 minutes. The team finished in 49:19 minutes, securing the gold medal.

The Estonian team EST 1 claimed silver. Daisy Kudre-Schnyder finished her section in 12:32 minutes, while Olle Ilmar Jaama recorded an overall time of 25:32 minutes. Their total time was 50:44 minutes.

The Swedish team SWE 2 took bronze with a final time of 50:47 minutes. Isabel Salen ran her course in 11:50 minutes, before Simon Eriksson continued the race with a split time of 24:28 minutes.

With today’s races, the Nordic competitions in the stunning Swiss Alps came to an end. The events in Goms played a crucial role in promoting the CISM’s mission – “Friendship through Sport” – and strengthened international cooperation and mutual understanding.
