Top-class field of participants promises thrilling competitions

The 5th Military World Winter Games 2025, which will take place in Switzerland under the hashtag #Lucerne2025, will bring together an impressive array of international top athletes. From March 23 to 30, around 1400 participants from 43 nations will compete at various venues. Alongside promising young talents, experienced world-class athletes who have already proven their skills at the Olympics or at the World Championships will also be competing.

Top-class field of participants:
In the alpine disciplines, Austrian slalom silver medallist Adrian Pertl and Bulgarian World Cup winner Albert Popov are among the favourites. In the biathlon, French World Cup athlete Lou Jeanmonnot and Austrian world champion Lisa Hauser will ensure a high-caliber field of participants. The climbing competitions also promise to be exciting: with Polish Olympic champion and speed world record holder Aleksandra Miroslaw, one of the fastest climbers in the world will be competing.

The Swiss delegation also relies on a strong line-up of experienced athletes and young talent, supported by the army's elite sports funding. European champion Sascha Lehmann leads the team in the climbing discipline, while Lena Häcki-Gross, Amy Baserga and junior bronze medalist James Pacal are strong names in the biathlon. In cross-country skiing, Nadja Kälin, Beda Klee and Anja Weber are further top athletes in action. The team is complemented by outstanding athletes in skiing and snowboarding, including Fadri Janutin, Julie Hänggi-Zogg and Jessica Keiser in the alpine disciplines, and Aron Fahrni and Céline van Till in parasport. With CISM junior world champion Lukas Zwicker, there is also a promising talent in parachute skiing.

This impressive line-up guarantees highly exciting competitions at first-class venues. From the challenging slopes in Engelberg to the ultra-modern biathlon and cross-country skiing trails in Goms and the spectacular jumps in the Parachute Ski – the 2025 Military World Winter Games offer the perfect stage for top sporting performances.

From established world stars to up-and-coming talents, the race for the medals will be wide open right up to the finish. One thing is for sure, though: spectators can look forward to thrilling competitions and unforgettable sporting moments.
