Bahrain has won the mixed relay race at the 2025 Military World Winter Games. The competition took place in clear conditions and with an impressive display by the Swiss Air Force Patrouille Suisse.
Suspense until the end
The men started the race at a high pace, with yesterday's winner, Albert Rop (BAR), controlling the leading pack of the first four before handing over the baton at the first handover. Austrian Lena Millonig mastered challenging European cross-country skiing conditions to set the fastest second stage, giving her team a promising lead at halftime.
But Bahrain was not done. Balew Birhanu (BAR) put in an impressive third stage, fighting fiercely with Krystian Zalewski (POL) and Julien Le Cozler (FRA) to reclaim the lead. With the finish in sight, Olympic champion Winfred Yavi powered the team to victory in the final stretch. Poland crossed the finish line in second place, with France taking third.
United through sport
With 25 nations competing in the mixed relay, the event showcased not only world-class competition but also the unifying power of sport. By bringing together athletes from around the world, the Military World Winter Games strengthened its mission of promoting camaraderie, teamwork and international cooperation.
