A week filled with outstanding athletic performances, emotional moments, and unforgettable encounters – all in the spirit of the motto Military Champions for Peace – came to a festive close on Saturday evening. Athletes, delegations, and guests gathered at the Messe Luzern for the grand closing ceremony, marking the conclusion of these extraordinary Winter Games.
In the nearly sold-out hall, the official closing of the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games was celebrated. The diverse uniforms in the audience were a powerful symbol of international solidarity, highlighting the significance of military sports in building bridges between nations beyond the competition itself.
A total of 784 athletes from 42 nations came together for the Winter Games, competing under the CISM flag and embodying the spirit of fair play. France dominated the medal standings with an impressive 13 gold medals, securing first place ahead of Italy and Switzerland. However, beyond the medal count, the true essence of these Games lay in their values: fairness, camaraderie, and the shared goal of promoting peace through sport.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event possible. Organizing an event of this scale required immense dedication, and Switzerland is proud to have provided the participating nations with such a prestigious and seamlessly executed sporting event.
The organizing committee reflects on a successful week and extends its gratitude to all who contributed to making these Winter Games an unforgettable experience. Not a farewell, but a see you soon!
