Exciting biathlon and ski-orienteering races took place today at the Nordic Center in Goms. The events were held in excellent weather conditions and drew a large crowd of spectators, with both the biathlon and ski-orienteering competitions delivering thrilling performances.
Biathlon Mixed Relay: France wins ahead of Italy and Switzerland
In the biathlon mixed relay, France secured first place with a flawless shooting performance and a total time of 1:01:37.4 hours. Italy followed in second place with a time of 1:02:04.6 hours and just one shooting error. The Swiss team, also shooting flawlessly, finished in third place with a time of 1:02:25.9 hours. The podium was completely filled with Alpine countries.
Ski orienteering: Bulgaria triumphs in women’s race
In the women’s ski-orieteering, Antoniya Grigorova from Bulgaria clinched victory with a time of 12:49 minutes, narrowly ahead of Sweden’s Evelina Wickbom, who finished second with just one second behind (12:50 minutes). Daisy Kudre-Schnyder from Estonia took third place with a time of 13:05 minutes.
Men’s Ski-OR: Bulgaria Again on Top – Switzerland Finishes Fifth
In the men’s race, Stanimir Belomazhev of Bulgaria won with a time of 11:02 minutes. Olle Ilmar Jaama from Estonia came second with 11:11 minutes, while Sweden’s Rasmus Wickbom finished third with 11:24 minutes. The best Swiss athlete, Severin Müller, finished in fifth place with a time of 12:12 minutes.
Prominent Guests Enhance the Event
Today’s competitions were graced by high-ranking international guests, including Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, President of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), and Captain Roberto Recchia, the General Secretary. Swiss military leadership was also present, with Corps Commander Hans-Peter Walser and Division Commander Germaine Seewer, President of the Organizing Committee, attending the events. Their presence highlighted the importance of the Winter Military World Games for international military cooperation and sports exchange.
